Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about participating in IMMC Kyrgyzstan.

About the competition

What is IMMC?

The International Mathematical Modeling Challenge (IM²C) is a global team competition for high school students, organised by COMAP (USA) and NeoUnion (Hong Kong SAR). Teams receive a real-world problem and have five days to build a complete mathematical model and write a research paper in English. Kyrgyzstan joined the IMMC network in 2026.

Who can participate?

Secondary school students in grades 8–11 (and grade 12, where available). Any school in Kyrgyzstan - Bishkek, Osh or a regional school — can register. No prior olympiad experience is required.

Is participation free?

Yes. Participation in the Kyrgyzstan national selection round is completely free. There is no registration fee.

What language should our paper be in?

The final paper must be written in English. During the preparation phase, teams may contact the organisers in Kyrgyz or Russian if they need clarification or support.

About the team

How many students can be in a team?

Teams may include 1 to 4 students. All members must be from the same school.

Can multiple teams from the same school participate?

Yes — and we encourage it. A single school may register as many teams as it wants. Each team submits its own solution.

Do we need a faculty advisor?

Yes. Each team must have one faculty advisor from the same school. The advisor can supervise multiple teams from the same school.

About the paper

How long does the contest last?

Yes, strictly. The paper must not contain student names, school name, advisor name, city, or any identifying information. Papers with identifying information may be disqualified.

How do we submit our paper?

Teams submit a single PDF file by email before the deadline. The exact submission address and file format will be sent to registered teams together with the problem statement.
